Event description

Description

The 2019 RCPAQAP molecular genetics Workshop will focus on tissue biobanking and the critical role biobanks have as a biorepository for the storage and access of key clinical material, not only for research but also for clinical diagnostics.

The workshop is aimed at highlighting the role of tissue biobanks on what they do and what they can offer to the pathology and genetic testing community.

Presentations will cover topics including accessing cancer material and ethical issues for material usage. Biorepositories are a very important resource for accessing material given that newly identified genetic biomarkers are becoming a key challenge for DNA diagnostics and for clinical interpretations of disease.

This workshop will, therefore, highlight the role of tissue biobanks and how they can facilitate translational understanding of diseased tissue.
