Are you considering buying into or exiting a practice? Do you need a valuation of a legal practice in a dispute?

In this presentation, eight key factors are identified in valuing a legal practice. Those eight factors are then applied to law firms advertised for sale, listed law firms and acquisitions.

We examine private law practices advertised for sale in Queensland and the valuation metrics that we can infer.

We examine listed legal firms in Australia and the UK and assess their values. In particular, we compare Shine Lawyers with IPH and explain why two legal firms with similar revenue have very different values.

Finally, we look at legal firm acquisitions and infer value metrics. In particular, we look at the $1.3 billion acquisition of Quindell Services by Slater & Gordans and examine what went wrong.
