The Uses of Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers in lower facial rejuvenation

and smile design in dental practice.

Expressions of interest can be registered via this Eventbrite invitation. Further information will be forwarded to interested parties regarding course overview and learning objectives.

This course will be focused on dental practitioners who are interested in using botulinum toxin and dermal fillers in lower facial rejuvenation and smile design. The course will include an anatomical study of all muscles, arteries, veins and nerves. It will also include presentations about injection techniques and how to deal with complications should they arise. Furthermore, it will guide participants on how to include facial injectables within their scope of practice as dental practitioners.

This is a two-day course with didactic lectures on the first day, followed by a quiz about head and neck anatomy, pitfalls and complications. Day two will consist of a practical day involving demonstrations of different injection techniques by trainers on silicone manikins that are designed and manufactured specifically for the purpose of injections.

Dr Mahmoud Bakr

Dr Bakr received  his Bachelor Degreee in Dental Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University in 2004 and completed his Master Degree in 2010. In 2012, Dr Bakr was appointed as a full time lecturer in General Dental Practice with a specialty in teaching Oral Biology and Head and Neck Anatomy. In 2014, Dr Bakr completed a graduate certificate in higher education. Currently, Dr Bakr, is an accredited examiner for the Australian Dental Council Examination for overseas training dentists. Besides his teaching commitments, Mahmoud remains to be a clinician and undergoes private dental practice within Griffith University Dental Clinics. He has also published over 25 peer reviewed journal articles in different fields including the effect of Botulinum Toxin on different oral tissues.
