Description

Join Amnesty International and Digital Storytellers at Vivid Sydney!

“The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values and agenda of an entire generation that is to come.” - Steve Jobs

These two organisations are combining their diverse experience in the not-for-profit sector and the digital production industry to deliver a two-hour workshop focused on the power of personal narratives and brimming with valuable techniques to ensure effective digital storytelling with the technology we use every day.

Amnesty International and Digital Storytellers are thrilled to announce that our featured speakers are Rodney Dillon and Mikey Leung!

If you join us for this exciting event, not only will you get to hear from these inspiring speakers, but you will also get to enjoy some effective and interactive exercises focused on uncovering the power of your personal narrative and your ability to be a force for change! We will also be exploring all of the dos and don'ts for better quality footage, lighting, editing and more so that you get the most out of filming with your smartphone.

Our Speakers

Rodney Dillon is a widely respected, lifelong defender of the rights of Indigenous Australians. Integral to the success of his efforts is the ability to engage in emotive and compelling storytelling, however, as a Palawa elder, storytelling is far more than merely a tool for success for Rodney. His personal and cultural history both rely on the most basic of human connections that story sharing cultivates. Rodney’s story is truly creating change for Indigenous Australians around the world. Join us to hear Rodney’s multifaceted understanding of the power of Storytelling to engage, connect and inspire.

Mikey Leung is a co-founder and director at purpose-driven film agency Digital Storytellers. With over 15 years of experience in the digital production industry as a published author, former TEDx speaker, cinematographer and web designer, he is the perfect person to feature at this workshop! As a digital media expert, Mikey's discussion will focus on the way that digital mediums can enhance the impact of personal narritives. Storytelling for social change can move the world towards a better narrative, and Mikey is dedicated to exploring the role that you can play in shaping that narrative by getting in touch with the power of your own story.

You have the power to make an impact in your very own hands!
