Space at the Local - An Evening With Spaceflight Historian Amy Shira Teitel
Science at the Local is excited to present a special event starring Amy Shira Teitel, author of Breaking the Chains of Gravity and the host of the popular YouTube channel, Vintage Space.
A lifelong space-history nerd, Amy has turned her childhood fascination with the Apollo missions into a career researching the history of spaceflight.
Amy has written for Discovery News Space, Al-Jazeera, The Guardian and Universe Today and has appeared on the Discovery channel, the Military channel, SyFy, and the Science channel. Amy was also an embedded journalist on the New Horizons team, bringing the excitement of humanity's first mission to Pluto to the space-loving public by presenting the enormously popular Pluto in a Minute videos for the team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
This is a fantastic opportunity for science, space and history lovers of all ages to learn all about the history of spaceflight and meet a fantastic communicator on a rare visit to Australia.
After Amy's talk we'll be heading outside for a viewing session.
All welcome! (except clouds)
Doors open at 6:30
Talk begins at 7:00
Viewing session from 8:10
