About this event

Lake Macquarie City Council is offering limited spots in a practical series of online workshops tailored to the needs of our City’s community groups. The social media course, delivered by Jodie from The Marketing Side, will help you spread the word about your programs, spaces and events, recruit new people, and tell the story of your community group.

Join us for the 90 minute workshops on the first four Tuesday nights in June. The course will take us through how to use Facebook and Instagram to get the best results for your community group, including:

  • Set up and targeting the right audience
  • Creating great content, including images and tools
  • Engaging with your audience
  • What to do when things go wrong
  • Understanding insights and analytics

All participants will receive a hard copy handbook.

Online workshop dates - participants to attend all four sessions:

  • Tuesday 1 June, 7.00-8.30pm
  • Tuesday 8 June, 7.00-8.30pm
  • Tuesday 15 June, 7.00-8.30pm
  • Tuesday 22 June, 7.00-8.30pm

The course will progress at a realistic pace in a welcoming environment, so you can learn and ask questions along the way. There will be opportunity to work along with practical activities throughout the course. A small amount (~1 hour / week) of practical activities will be set between each session.

The course is open to volunteers who are managing, or plan to manage social media on behalf of a not for profit community group in Lake Macquarie. Course places are limited.

Course content will be targeted towards volunteers who:

  • have basic experience using Facebook and/or Instagram for personal use;
  • already manage or want to manage social media for a community group; and
  • are keen to grow their skills and knowledge.

Register for your free spot by Monday 17 May.
