Ridley Australian Prawn & Barramundi Farmers Symposium
Tue., 02/08/2016, 9:00 am – Wed., 03/08/2016, 10:30 pm ACST
The Ridley Australian Prawn and Barramundi Farmers Symposium is the annual opportunity for the two groups to come together for promotion, networking, research extension, to highlight current issues and to engage with industry suppliers, students, researchers and government agencies.
This year our two industries have seen the release of “Scaling Up” a federal report into aquaculture development in Northern Australia and the Queensland Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries release a strategy to promote the growth of sustainable aquaculture. These are exciting times for the industry at National and State levels and our farmed prawns and barramundi are finally being recognised as a sustainable protein option.
If you are involved in the industry, are a student, or are an investor looking to get in – this is the opportune time for you to come along and network with our unique group of farm owners, managers and staff. This is their onetime per year they get together as well.
The event this year will be held at Mercure and in breaking with tradition the delegates will be able to enjoy the Welcome Reception and Formal Dinner off site to take advantage of some on Townsville’s famous establishments and chefs.
The Welcome Reception will be held at The Brewery where guests will be welcomed to the country by two of the regions tribe leaders and get to taste beers made on the premises.
The Formal Dinner will be held at Quayside where local chef Matt Mirren owner of renowned restaurant JAM will prepare for us a dinner to remember from the North featuring local ingredients including our produce.
The dinner theme will be Jazz for those who like to get dressed for the occasion.
