About this event

  • 9 hours

As our population increases in age along with social and oral health expectations, the amount of single tooth, full arch and complex full mouth rehabilitations using implants increases. As clinicians, we need to be able to educate on options available to our patients and advise on the post care requirements of single implants through to the full arch reconstructed cases.

Success of an implant requires many factors to be favorable: Host response, surgical planning and skill, prosthetic design and post placement care both at home and professional maintenance.

This seminar will go over implant options and maintenance protocols for single implants, implant bridges, full arch fixed appliances and zygomatic implants.

Implant designs and why it’s important for the Hygienists and OHT to understand the different types of implants available, platform choices and why different implants are utilized. This lecture will also describe the various prosthesis available and how the design impact cleansability.

Protocol for maintenance of single tooth, multiple tooth and full arch implants.

This lecture will provide the participant with various protocols for home and professional maintenance of single tooth, multiple tooth and full arch implant patients. The protocols relating to preventive measures both the patients and the clinician must undertake to keep the implant healthy will be discussed and presented.

Peri-implant pathology and treatment.

This lecture will discuss the differential diagnosis of identifying peri-implant pathology and the application of appropriate treatment plans for the treatment of peri-implant disease. The criteria of when and who to refer to will be presented.

Zygomatic implants.

Due to bone loss and poor anatomical structure, zygomatic implants are often the last fixed option for some patients to maintain oral function. These larger and longer implants come with new implications for maintenance and professional care. This presentation will present the current internationally recognized protocols for home and professional care.

This course is designed to help dental hygienists, dental therapist's and oral health therapist understand the anatomy, phases of implants and the long term care requirements of dental implants

The course will also include hands on training for maintenance and treatment of dental implants

This course will be 6.5 CPD hours

Location to be announced however will be a SYDNEY location
