Managing Risk in Small Business

Are you often forced to “fight fires,” distracting you from the vital running of your business?

Need advice on how to identify risks and opportunities so your business can grow?

Do you know how to identify and manage risks effectively in your business?

This FREE hands-on workshop is designed for small business owners who would like to learn more about identifying and managing risk across the whole spectrum of business. The workshop covers a broad range of risks including managing cashflow, operational risks, business growth, intellectual property and safety risks.

This workshop will:

  1. Provide participants with an overview of the risk management process from identification to management, prevention and mitigation;
  2. Demonstrate how to implement good risk management practices as part of their business planning and operation.

We teach small business owners how to use risk management to improve operations and reduce the requirement for “fighting fires”.

The workshop is presented by Celia Jordaan, Principal Procurement Advisor of Ichiban Commercial Solutions Pty Ltd as panel member of the Small Business Development Corporation’s Business Local Panel. As a small business owner herself, Celia has firsthand experience in the ups and downs of running a small business. She combines this experience with her corporate and international experience in the areas of law, procurement, risk management and contractor management.

This free workshop is brought to you by the Small Business Development Corporation’s Business Local outreach service. Business Local provides small business owners in the Perth metropolitan area with access to free enterprise skill development sessions. For more information to help you start and run a business, including the SBDC’s free small business advisory service, visit: smallbusiness.wa.gov.au.
