Learn to be a pro with sewing machine – Beginner Sewing course Level 1

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

ANY CLASSES STARTING AFTER 28TH OF MAY WILL BE AT OUR NEW PREMISES ON 437 HAY STREET, SUBIACO

Studio Thimbles Level 1 Course (STL1) is like a White Belt in Martial Arts – in order to earn your Black Belt, you need to start with basics! STL1 is a sewing course for absolute beginners to help you start your sewing journey in the fastest and easiest way. Avoid sewing frustration and disappointment from YouTube videos! Learn in a small group of like-minded people with peer-to-peer support. Knowledgeable, friendly, patient teachers will guide you every step of the way.

We all once were beginners, so, we know how you feel. Our teachers Denise, Daniela, or Olga will take you on the journey from setting up your sewing machine to 1st handmade ready-to-wear garment, which you would be so proud of!

Sewing course is 5 lessons, 2-2.5 hours each. One class per week

As we learn we will complete the following projects:

Cushion cover (envelope type)

Tote bag with box corners

Apron

Skirt with in-seam pockets

As we gain knowledge and confidence, we finish this STL1 course with 1st garment for ourselves. It will be a skirt with in-seam pockets. This will prepare us for the STL2 sewing course where we will continue to help you become a pro with the sewing machine. We start working with garment patterns and will make a top and pants/shorts for ourselves. If you love our Martial Arts reference, the STL2 it will be like grading from White belt straight to Green Belt!

We will be taking max 5 students per group, so you could learn in a friendly, nurturing space with personal attention to you. One class per week - 5 classes 2-2.5 hours each class ( classes could go up to 3 hours, as we all work at a different pace.)

Ticket date and time indicate 1st class in the course for each group and cover all 5 classes. Each group is subject to minimum bookings per group. If it happens that minimum bookings are not reached for a specific time, you will be offered to switch to an alternative date and time or a full refund.

FAQs

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

Absolutely yes if you would like to learn to sew with your own machine. However, you don't have to, as we provide you with a sewing machine to learn.

I don't have a sewing machine but planning to buy one. Should I buy it before the course start?

We recommend coming to the first class and starting to learn with our sewing machines. You might find lots of useful practical tips about sewing machines, that help you to make the right choice for your own sewing machine.

Subiaco Train Station within walking distance. Plenty of parking around. Parking with 1st hour free on Rowland Street, or at the corner of Baker and Rokeby Road.  We recommend to install an EasyPark app, so you can easily extend your parking if required. Always park for minimum 2,5 hours.
