You are warmly invited to a wonderful opportunity to hear about the innovative work of Escaping Victimhood based in the United Kingdom.

Debra Clothier, Chief Executive of Escaping Victimhood will be in Brisbane on 27 November 2017 and has agreed to share information about their unique work making a real difference to the lives of victims of serious violence, including sexual assault and with families of homicide victims. Debra will also provide insights on the current criminal justice process in England and how it impacts victims, including recent changes.

Cost: No cost, but bookings are essential as space is limited and morning tea will be provided.

Debra Clothier, MSc (Criminal Justice) has been the Chief Executive of Escaping Victimhood for 6 years. Escaping Victimhood is a national charity working in the UK with victims of serious crime. She has worked in the criminal justice system in the UK for 36 years.

Deb was the Chief Executive of the Restorative Justice Council, publishing the ‘Principles for Restorative Justice’ and is a trained mediator and was National Policy Development Manager for Nacro; managing the Youth Crime Unit and the Mental Health Unit. She has been the Co-Chair of the Victim Services Alliance and has been on the Board of the Criminal Justice Alliance. She was part of the Caulfield Inquiry set up by the Howard League for penal reform, to look at the ‘Treatment of Children in Secure Settings’ and was the Chair of the Standards and Accreditation Board for Restorative Justice in England and Wales. She is currently a Criminal Justice ‘Expert’ for the European Commission.
