Ways to get community to reflect on their drinking or drug use, presented by Prof Kylie Lee.

This webinar will provide examples of how to get communities to reflect on their alcohol or drug use. Using examples from remote NT through to urban NSW, Kylie will present a range of resources her team has developed, along with research efforts, to help whole communities to reduce harms from alcohol or drug use.

Objectives

Through an exploration of various efforts to help communities to reflect on their drinking, the webinar will provide participants with the opportunity to:

1. Have access to different paper-based, film and digital tools co-created with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals and community leaders. These resources were designed to help health services and individuals address alcohol and drug misuse.

2. Consider the use of research and locally-collected alcohol or drug use behaviours data to help inform local efforts.

Kylie Lee is a Professor in Public Health and leads the Priority Populations Research Stream at the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research at La Trobe University. She holds honorary appointments with the University of Sydney, National Drug Research Institute and Burnet Institute. Her highly original research in alcohol and other drug use is led by community or health service requests. Kylie is lead editor on a clinical textbook requested by Indigenous alcohol and other drug workers nationally and has been invited to assist Inuit and Sri Lankan communities in knowledge translation.

Who should register? This webinar is suitable for workers in the AOD, mental health, allied health and welfare sectors.
