Event Details

We're delighted to announce a new workshop on fermenting for better health run by one of our own team, the knowledgeable and bubbly Ally Bongard.

If you're experiencing sluggish digestion, bloating, sugar cravings, tiredness, anxiety or weak immunity, come and learn about how fresh fermented foods can improve your overall health. The ancient art of fermenting not only makes foods more nutritious and delicious, it is also the easiest way boost your beneficial gut bacteria on a daily basis. In recent years, dozens of published studies have confirmed what many cultures have always known: that fermented foods help people stay healthy.

In this participatory, hands-on class, Ally will cover the physical and mental health benefits of consuming fermented foods and guide you in making your own delicious sauerkraut. She will also demonstrate how to make a low to no-maintenance kefir and a first ferment of kombucha.

We’ll provide the raw materials, some fermented goodies for you to taste on the night and the confidence to get you started. Bring along the following kitchen basics as well as your enthusiasm!

You bring: your favourite knife or mandolin slicer, chopping board, large mixing bowl, apron and a clean tea towel for making the sauerkraut.

You will take home: your own sauerkraut in a fermenting jar complete with a masontops fermenting lid, some maintenance free kefir starter and workshop notes including other great recipes to try out at home.
