About this event

  • 3 hours

Health Consumers Tasmania invites you to attend our free three-hour introductory training session in Health Consumer Representation.

This afternoon session is for patients, carers and members of the community who want to be a voice for health consumers and advocate for a better health system.

Key concepts we cover include:

  1. Australia's Charter of Healthcare Rights;
  2. the theory behind the health consumer movement, as well as what we are aiming for; and
  3. what being a health consumer representative looks like in practice, be it through government consultations or sitting on a committee.

This session is open to all levels of experience, whether its your first time learning about this kind of work, through to the seasoned operators.

Health Consumers Tasmania aims to provide a safe, warm and friendly environment in which everyone is welcome .

Attendees are free to participate and speak in the session to the level which they feel comfortable. We respect and value your lived experience, and recognise the different reasons behind why people might want to advocate for a better health system.

Please feel free to email kate@healthconsumerstas.org.au if you have any questions about the session.

Afternoon tea is provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements through the registration form.

Please note - anyone who is interested in attending this training because of the work they do engaging health consumers should attend our separate sessions for health staff on 8 May or 13 June.
