Who’s it for:

Open to anyone 8 and over with a basic level of fitness and ability to walk over uneven ground, no experience necessary.

About/information:

Join Rangers and Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Threatened Flora Ecologist Rick Davies to see the fascinating but endangered orchids of Belair National Park. Did you know that endangered species aren’t just animals in Africa, but also plants which grow almost in your backyard, like in Belair National Park? Many are orchids. These are beautiful but weird little plants. They have wonderful little ways of tricking insects to visit them and carry their pollen. Come and learn about these tricks and how you can help save these fragile plants from extinction.

These are easy grade 2 km walks.

Total Fire Ban Days: Throughout the year particularly during the Fire Danger Season entry into parks may be restricted due to fire bans. These closures occur with little warning. What to bring:

  • minimum 1 litre of water

  • small backpack

  • long trousers and long sleeved top recommended

  • sturdy footwear

  • warm jumper and rainproof jacket just in case.
