About the Event:

Please join us on our Sydney Campus for our inaugural Alumni Showcase and Networking event.

Alumni, current students and Academic staff are all invited and it will be a great way to re-connect.

Three of our alumni will be speaking on the night. They’ll be speaking about what led them to study with us and what they are doing now.

This will be a great opportunity for current students and alumni to get ideas of what they can do with their course. Or perhaps even provide another path that you may not have realised was available to you.

Food and Beverages will be served on the night so please make sure you register so that we can cater accordingly.

Come find out who ACAP is now and where we’re heading.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Stephanie

As a Family Practitioner at OzChild, I work with families with high & complex needs that are referred to our Functional Family Therapy - Child Welfare (FFT-CW) program by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). These families have been reported for Child Protection concerns, and are at risk of removal due to Domestic and Family Violence, Child abuse or neglect, or substance abuse. I work with these families in their homes every week for up to 9 months as I spend time understanding their culture, family history, and problem pattern. I work in a highly autonomous role with flexible hours. This is important to me because it allows me to spend time with my family and children. I also provide clinical supervision through my private practice.

David

I am an ACAP alumni and graduated in 2021 with a Master of Social Work (Qualifying). Currently, I'm working for a disability advocacy organisation which gives me the opportunity to promote the rights of people with disability and resolve difficult issues they face within a social justice framework. I am now undertaking a postgraduate history degree .

Sandra

I am currently the Acting Crisis Coordinator and Clinical Lead at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sexual Assault Service (RPAH SAS).

My specialty is complex post traumatic stress disorder, that is recognised by the ICD-11 which is the eleventh revision of the International Classification of Diseases published by the World Health Organisation.

I manage a team of 35 after hours crisis response counsellors, as well as, managing a day-to-day counselling load.

Our service has two streams, the 24/7 crisis response for people who present at RPAH ED reporting sexual assault and I am part of a team of forensic medical officers and counsellors who attend these consults. The second stream is for people who are looking for counselling for past SA and CSA.

Before working at RPAH I was the Royal Commission Community Based Counsellor for the Royal Commission Into Organisational Responses into Childhood Sexual Abuse at Relationships Australia, Wattle Place service. Where I also worked with Forgotten Australians, Forced Adoptions, CSA, and the National Redress Scheme.

I started my career as a level 4 SHADS case manager at Stepping Out House, who were partnered with the Women and Girls Emergency Service in Redfern.

I am a committed feminist who strives to disrupt the punitive legal processes that disregards women as victims of sexual violence.
