Aboriginal cultural awareness for your workplace

Get everyone on board so you can make a real difference for Aboriginal people and get real results for your organisation.

9.30am for a 10am start

A simple lunch will be provided.

Most workplaces struggle to build support for Aboriginal employment

This leaves leaders frustrated by:

  • Pockets of resistance in the organisation
  • People who don’t understand why they should support it
  • Not knowing what’s missing from their understanding
  • Not knowing what they can do to change people’s minds
  • People who don’t know what they need to do practically to show their support
  • Time and money wasted on Aboriginal cultural awareness programs that feel good but don’t deliver change
  • The fact that everyone should’ve been taught this at school - but instead it’s the organisation’s job

Get everyone on board and take back control of your impact with Aboriginal Cultural Awareness for Workplaces

1. Understand Aboriginal cultures and experience

Learn about traditional cultures and society, Australia’s dark history and what it all means for your workplace. Leave with a simple plan to do things differently.

2. Create a safer and more respectful workplace

Specifically designed to help people learn what they need to understand why they should support Aboriginal initiatives. It's designed to be of practical use in the workplace.

3. Make a real difference and get real results

Understand what you can do in your workplace to make a real difference for Aboriginal people and get real results for your organisation.

ABOUT ME

My name is Lindsay Stanford.  I'm a proud Gamillaraay woman and the Founder and Principal of Blakworks, an Aboriginal employment specialist.  I started Blakworks in 2008 to help Australian employers make Aboriginal employment work by improving their understanding of Aboriginal employment, and building better workplaces to support Aboriginal employment efforts.

I've been helping employers and employment service providers with Aboriginal employment for more than 20 years.  I've worked for small, medium and large employers, employment service providers, and boutique Aboriginal employment consultancies.

I believe there is a way for employers to make Aboriginal employment work.  I know employers want to do better, and need to do better, in providing opportunities for Aboriginal people.  And just as importantly, I believe they can do better.  With a little help and guidance, employers and employment service providers can make Aboriginal employment work for everyone.
