Here's the hard truth. Only a tiny fraction of us keep our resolutions. University research in 2013 reported that only 8 per cent of people successfully followed through with their New Year's goals. In 2015, it was suggested that by the second week of February, 80 per cent of resolutions fall apart.

Now here's what I know. Most people approach goal-setting with the wrong mindset. They're not asking the right questions. They're not addressing underlying habits. They don't journey inwards to better understand themselves and the focus is entirely on the goal itself rather than on who they need to become in the process.

In short, the whole ordeal becomes yet another reason to beat themselves up and feel worse about their lives.
