Archerfield Airport

<p>Archerfield Airport opened in 1931 and was the major airport of Brisbane. During WWII it was used by the Allied Forces situated around Camp Columbia (Wacol) from where  General MacArthur staged the liberation of the SW Pacific. In 1944 it became the HQ of the Netherlands East Indies Government in Exile. They continued to use Archerfield until 1947. The full Allied  history of the airport will be covered in the presentations.</p><p>This is the second presentation because the first one in July was fully booked quickly due to overwhelming interest.</p>
