Elizabeth Rocha

Elizabeth Rocha is a psychotherapist who is passionate about couples’ therapy. As a relationship expert with 17 years’ experience, she has worked systemically with couples and individuals to address issues of affairs and betrayal, trauma and loss, anxiety, and depression. She has a Masters in Couple and Family Therapy and began her career in the field of Fostercare and Adoption as a graduate of Social Work from Melbourne University in 1996. She has also completed a psychology degree, a Bachelor of Behavioural Science.

For the past 17 years, she has been the Founder and Director of a boutique counselling clinic in Elsternwick, known as Glen Eira Counselling Clinic. She continues to be a strong activist for non-pathologizing mental health and understanding trauma through the lens of attachment. Her theoretical approach is to treat couples and individuals as a relational system “with moving parts” that need to be speaking with each other in therapy sessions. The objective being to create systemic and positive change that is long-lasting.

Her drive to offer her clients internationally recognised evidence-based therapies includes being Certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT) and Emotion Focused Therapy for couples (ICEEFT). This has led to her expertise in the growing field of Attachment and Trauma Science as a trauma base therapist. She shares her expertise as a clinical supervisor within the highly respected Australian Association of Family Therapists and the Australian Association of Social Workers.
