Zumba with Pawel in Darlinghurst

Zumba with Pawel in Darlinghurst

Overview

Dance fitness, but make it a party. Join Zumba with Pawel for big music and good vibes. ESCAC Darlinghurst. Your weekly joy workout.

If you’re after a workout that feels like a night out (minus the 2am kebab), you’re in the right place. This is a welcoming, queer-friendly, judgement-free Zumba class where you can show up as you are, move how you can, and leave feeling lighter.

What is Zumba?

Zumba is a dance-fitness program that feels like a party but works your whole body. We use simple, repeatable choreography, set to energising music, so you get a cardio workout without staring at a clock. No dance experience needed. If you can move and follow along, you can do Zumba.

__________

What to expect

This class is 70 minutes with two water breaks.

The vibe

All-levels friendly and judgement-free, with options to reduce impact (no jumping), slow it down, or take a pause whenever you need. Expect Latin rhythms, pop, and throwback bangers, with a little queer joy on top (sparkles optional, good vibes strongly recommended).

First-time tips

Arrive a little early, pick a spot where you can see me, and copy what you can. If you miss a move, keep stepping to the beat and jump back in when you’re ready; breaks are allowed, dramatic hair flicks are encouraged (optional, but iconic).

A front-row myth (tiny PSA)

Contrary to popular belief, the front row isn’t always the easiest spot when you’re new. Standing a little further back often helps, because you can follow the people in front of you and avoid the “mirror confusion” effect.

__________

Venue

We dance at East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC), operated by BrandX. We share the space with other performers who rehearse dance, music, and other art.

The big room we use is on the upper floor and comfortably holds up to 50 people.

__________

Getting there and parking

ESCAC is just behind Oxford Street on the corner of Burton St and Palmer St (yes, the one that ends with “Palms”). It’s a few minutes’ walk from buses running along Oxford Street.

If you’re driving, street parking in Darlinghurst is possible, but it can be limited or time-restricted. Give yourself a little extra time to find a spot.

__________

Arrival and building access

Our Zumba gang usually arrives around 15 minutes before class. Look for a cheerful group outside the building, or upstairs if the doors are already open (if you hear happy chaos, you’re probably in the right place).

If you’re running late, no stress. Come through the glass door and slip in, then join when you’re ready, just be mindful of classmates moving around.

__________

Tickets

These classes are non-commercial, not sponsored, and privately organised. We cover the cost of the venue ourselves, so we offer an optional donation if you choose to come regularly.

To simplify things, we offer two donation packages:

  • 5 classes for AUD 15
  • 10 classes for AUD 30

Ask me about payment options after class.

__________

At the class

Please read the terms and conditions of participating in my Zumba class available here - http://zumbawithpawel.com/terms

If you have an injury, are pregnant, or are returning to exercise, consider checking in with a health professional first.

Listen to your body and adjust the intensity to your fitness level. You’re welcome to take lower-impact options, pause, or step out for air at any time.

Accessibility and comfort

I aim to make class welcoming and easy to follow.

  • Lower-impact options are always available.
  • You can pause, step out, or modify moves at any time.
  • If you have access needs or questions about the space (sound level, lighting, stairs, seating), message me and I’ll tell you what to expect.

__________

What to bring

  • Comfortable, supportive shoe
  • Clothes you can move in
  • Water
  • A small towel (optional, but you’ll thank us later)
