Zumba UV with Pawel in Darlinghurst - Glow in the Dark
Glow, sweat, repeat. Zumba UV in Darlinghurst is a dance-fitness party under UV lights. Wear white or neon, and come early to get painted.
Lights down, music up. Zumba UV is a sweaty little dance party where you can show up as you are, move how you can, and leave glowing.
What is Zumba UV?
Zumba is a dance-fitness program that feels like a party but works your whole body, using simple, repeatable choreography set to energising music. Zumba UV takes that same class into the dark with UV lighting, so your outfit and face paint glow while we dance, bringing a little nightclub energy and “main character” lighting. We provide UV face paint and glow sticks; wear white, bright, or neon colours for the full glow effect.
________
What to expect
This class is 60 minutes with two water breaks.
The vibe
All-levels friendly and judgement-free, with options to reduce impact (no jumping), slow it down, or take a pause whenever you need. Expect Latin rhythms, pop, and throwback bangers, plus a healthy dose of queer joy (sparkles optional, good vibes strongly recommended).
First-time tips
Pick a spot where you can see me, and copy what you can. If you miss a move, keep stepping to the beat and jump back in when you’re ready; breaks are allowed, dramatic hair flicks are encouraged (optional, but iconic).
Glow-up time
If you want UV paint or extra glow-stick artistry, come a little early. We’ll have paint and glow sticks ready so you can arrive plain and leave fluorescent.
________
Venue
We dance at East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC), operated by BrandX. We share the space with other performers who rehearse dance, music, and other art.
The big room we use is on the upper floor and comfortably holds up to 50 people.
________
Getting there and parking
ESCAC is just behind Oxford Street on the corner of Burton St and Palmer St (yes, the one that ends with “Palms”). It’s a few minutes’ walk from buses running along Oxford Street.
If you’re driving, street parking in Darlinghurst is possible, but it can be limited or time-restricted. Give yourself a little extra time to find a spot.
________
Arrival and building access
Our Zumba gang usually arrives around 30 minutes before class to set everything up. Look for a cheerful group outside the building, or upstairs if the doors are already open (if you hear happy chaos, you’re probably in the right place).
For Zumba UV, arriving a bit earlier is recommended if you want time for face paint and glow sticks.
If you’re running late, no stress. Come through the glass door and slip in, then join when you’re ready, just be mindful of classmates moving around.
________
At the class
If you have an injury, are pregnant, or are returning to exercise, consider checking in with a health professional first.
Because this is a UV-lit, lower-light session, please take extra care if you’re sensitive to lighting, have migraines, or have a history of seizures. If you’re unsure, message me before class and we’ll figure out the best setup for you.
Listen to your body and adjust the intensity to your fitness level. You’re welcome to take lower-impact options, pause, or step out for air at any time.
________
Tickets
These classes are non-commercial, not sponsored, and privately organised. We cover the cost of the venue ourselves, so we offer an optional donation if you choose to come regularly.
Packages:
- 5 classes for AUD 15
- 10 classes for AUD 30
Ask me about payment options after class.
________
Accessibility and comfort
I aim to make class welcoming and easy to follow.
Lower-impact options are always available, and you can pause or step out at any time.
If you have access needs or questions about the space (sound level, lighting, stairs, seating), message me and I’ll tell you what to expect. For UV sessions specifically, we can also talk through lighting sensitivities and where to stand.
________
What to bring
Wear white, bright, or neon colours if you want the glow effect.
Bring comfortable, supportive shoes, clothes you can move in, and water. A small towel is optional (but you’ll probably thank yourself).
We provide UV face paint and glow sticks, but you’re welcome to bring your own glow accessories too.
