Step into the world of hip-hop, storytelling and self-expression with acclaimed Noongar/Jingili rapper Zero Emcee.
Embodying the spirit of Noongar and Jingili cultures, Zero Emcee’s meticulously crafted songs have gained widespread recognition, reflecting a deep connection to Country and a powerful commitment to representing culture with pride. Through music, Zero connects with young people and communities, encouraging confidence, creativity and finding your voice.
This hands-on, youth-focused program runs across two interactive workshops, guiding participants through the creative process of lyric writing, performance and recording — culminating in a live community performance.

What you’ll explore
Introduction to hip-hop, R&B and storytelling through lyrics
Brainstorming themes of identity, culture, home, dreams and emotions
Writing and performance exercises
Recording your own original song
Participants will also have the opportunity to share their work in a live performance at the Ballardong Picnic on Sunday 25 January at 5pm.
Zero Emcee knows the importance of following your dreams. As a 12-year-old, he dreamed of becoming a songwriter and rapper — and today, at 29, he is at the top of his game, inspiring the next generation to do the same.
