Event description

Description

The Quandamooka People’s annual Whale Welcoming blesses the arrival of ‘yalingbila’ (humpback whales) on their migration from southern waters. You are invited to be part of the ceremony, enjoy whale-watching cultural tours, Traditional dance, arts, weaving, workshops, kids activities, good food, sand art and more. We are privileged to present live music by special guest artist co-writer/composer of Australia’s popular song “My Island Home” song-man Neil Murray, along with local female duo Blacksalt presenting smooth soulful harmonies. Occurring the same weekend as the Stradbroke Island Chamber Music Festival we are pleased to partner in festivities for ‘whale song’ alongside international composers and musicians. Join us for a day on the headland, immersed in nature celebrating Yalingbila!
