Join our leading youth health workshop with Dr Yulia Furlong, Joanna White, Dr Pradeep Rao and Dr Raghu Dharmapuri for expert insights into the psychosocial wellbeing, and mental health diagnosis and assessment of young people.


This CPD accredited workshop enhances your professional development and provides actionable strategies for harm reduction and health promotion in young patients.

Attendees will receive pre-workshop readings on the psychosocial wellbeing and mental health diagnosis and assessment of young people, to prepare for engaging and informed discussions.

PRESENTERS

Dr Yulia Furlong

Dr Yulia Furlong is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Perth Children’s Hospital and serves as the Head of Service for both the Paediatric Consultation Liaison and Gender Diversity Service. She holds the position of Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia and chairs the WA Psychotropic Medication Expert Group. Dr Furlong is an integral part of the Perth Children’s Hospital Clinical Staff Association Executive Committee, the Drug and Therapeutic Committee, and the Child and Adolescent Health Service Shape our Future Steering Team. Her expertise is recognised internationally, being a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK, and locally, as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and an accredited member of the WA Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.


Joanna White
Joanna White, a Senior Clinical Psychologist, researcher, and educator at Perth Children’s Hospital, is at the forefront of integrating movement and nature into therapeutic practices for mental health. Her innovative research into 'movement as medicine' offers promising strategies for treating adolescent mental health issues. Her upcoming presentations will address the latest advancements for healthcare professionals regarding 'movement as medicine' strategies for adolescent mental health.


Dr Pradeep Rao

Clinical A/Professor Dr Pradeep Rao is Head of Service, Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorders Service (CAHDS) in Perth, Australia. He has worked in senior medical leadership roles such as Head of Department and then Medical CoDirector at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Dr Rao is also a Clinical Associate Professor at University of Western Australia (UWA) and an Honorary Associate with the Telethon Kids Institute, Perth Australia. He is a past member of the Scientific Advisory SubCommittee to the CAHS Ethics Committee May. Dr Rao has published widely in peer reviewed journals and conducted research into how mental health services can be improved, as well as investigations of prescribing practices of psychiatrists. His research interests include improvements to mental health service provision and the underlying neurobiology and neurocircuitries of ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders in children and adolescents. Dr Rao has been a guest editor for a special issue on mood disorders in Frontiers Psychiatry and also an ad hoc reviewer for a number of journals.


Dr Raghu Dharmapuri
Dr Raghu Dharmapuri is a highly experienced Paediatrician, holding an FRACP qualification from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), Australia. With over a decade of service in Perth, WA, Dr Dharmapuri has excelled as a Consultant Paediatrician in General Paediatrics within the hospital setting, as well as in Developmental Paediatrics at the Community Child Development Centre. In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Dharmapuri is appointed as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where he contributes to the education and training of the next generation of medical professionals.
