About this event

The Subiaco Museum offers a fun and interactive history program for Year Two Students which has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of the HAAS (History) Curriculum.

Year Two students will learn about life in the past through hands-on olden day activities and games.

Students get an opportunity to compare their daily lives with a child from Subiaco's past. The life of a young boy who lived in Subiaco 100 years ago will be shared with the students through historical photographs and artefacts. They will step back in time and discover what life was like in the past through handling and using museum objects. Students will learn about how people lived, worked, travelled, shopped, communicated and spent their leisure time. Students will get to experience a lesson in the old school room.

Through these hands-on activities students will discover how people's lives have changed as a result of technological developments.

We are limited to 25 people in the museum at any one time. Classes will be divided into two groups after the introduction and complete two activities over the visit.

After the visit to the museum school groups are welcome to take the museum's basket of old fashioned games to use in the historical Rankin Gardens which is located close-by. It is a delightful area for children to play or picnic.
