Writing for comics workshop at Kathleen Syme Library
Learn how to craft a compelling story for the visual medium of comics with Nathan Onias. We will discuss story structure, plot devices, and characterisation. Then it will be your turn to write a comic script from scratch!
We will begin with some ideation, before refining our concept and constructing the scaffolding for your own comic story.
Nathan Onias is a comic creator and educator, originally from the USA. Nathan lives and works in Melbourne as an illustrator, graphic designer and art instructor. He is the founder and festival director of Indie Comic Con, a festival celebrating independent Australian comics. Nathan has created and self-published his own comics including his superhero comedy, Commander Canine. He represents Copic Marker Australia as a lifetime ambassador.
