Description

Writing for comics workshop at Kathleen Syme Library

Learn how to craft a compelling story for the visual medium of comics with Nathan Onias. We will discuss story structure, plot devices, and characterisation. Then it will be your turn to write a comic script from scratch!

We will begin with some ideation, before refining our concept and constructing the scaffolding for your own comic story.

Nathan Onias is a comic creator and educator, originally from the USA. Nathan lives and works in Melbourne as an illustrator, graphic designer and art instructor. He is the founder and festival director of Indie Comic Con, a festival celebrating independent Australian comics. Nathan has created and self-published his own comics including his superhero comedy, Commander Canine. He represents Copic Marker Australia as a lifetime ambassador.
Check out his comic work at www.crispycola.com

For 14+ year olds, 1pm to 3pm, bookings essential.

In conjunction with 'Free Comic Book Day'

Drop by City, Kathleen Syme and North Melbourne and libraries and celebrate free comic book day by choosing a free comic book. Check out our extensive graphic novel collections and come dressed in your most heroic or villainous attire.
