With thousands of wound products available to choose from, it is important for the clinician to understand what a wound product is designed to do and how it will achieve this, when it is not appropriate to use a particular product and when it is appropriate to change the wound management including wound product.
This understanding will lead to better and more cost effective patient care. The workshop will focus on wound products in relation to wound aetiology and wound shape and the overall objectives of wound care.
Learning objectives:
- Recognise wound dressing products to be use according to their function
- Be able to apply wound care products to contoured body areas
- Recognise when it is time to change the wound management plan
- Recognise when it is time to refer the patient for further assessment and/or assistance
