About this event
- 3 hours 30 minutes
Celebrate World Environment Day with CVA and Chevron Australia, as we continue to expand our Urban Shade Forest in the City of Rockingham. You'll have a chance to plant native species, and restore our vital urban green spaces. Whether you're new to the joy of planting or are a seasoned planting pro, we welcome you to help make Rockingham greener, cooler, and full of life.
Each seedling you plant not only creates shade and cools our cities, but helps to create a lively habitat for our native friends. Feel the connection with nature as you boost biodiversity within our cities, while improving your own wellbeing and create a renewed sense of community. Help us rebuild biodiversity – and our Urban Shade Forests – in Rockingham. Every small effort counts, and your contribution matters!
Our friendly team will be there to share their knowledge and guide you. And don't worry, we've got all the tools and equipment you need, plus a free lunch to celebrate our hard work.
Registrations for each session are essential, so don't miss out.
PLEASE NOTE: You will also need to register for this event via Conservation Volunteers Australia's volunteer platform (https://conservationvolunteers.info/USFPerth). If you only register via Eventbrite, a CVA staff member will contact you with the required registration link.
Contact TGustowski@cva.org.au if you have any questions.
The Urban Shade Forest initiative is supported by our major partner Chevron Australia and supported locally by Chevron's premium fuel brand Caltex, and by the City of Rockingham
Frequently asked questions
Yes, children aged from 5-14 can participate as long as they are supervised by a parent/carer. Children aged 14-17 can participate without parental supervision, however, consent from a parent or legal guardian is required prior to registration. All CVA staff hold Working With Children's Checks.
There is free on-site parking available near Lewington Reserve, along Victoria St and surrounding streets. Wherever possible, we encourage the use of carpooling or public transport.
As we provide important safety information (as well as a planting demonstration) at the start of the session, we strongly encourage you to arrive at the meeting time. You can however leave early, if you need to. If you're unsure, please contact us.
At CVA, we're for all people taking action for nature, and would love to accommodate you as best we can. As part of the activity, you might be required to navigate unstable ground, and bend down to plant. If you're unsure, please get in touch with us (TGustowski@cva.org.au) to discuss suitability.
