Workshop - Putting the person in precision medicine

Overview

Co-hosted by the Faculty of Science and the UNSW International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS)

About the Workshop

Co-hosted by the Faculty of Science and the UNSW International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS), this workshop brings together academia, government, and the community to explore the challenges and opportunities of embedding precision medicine across the health system.

The workshop will place a strong emphasis on integration into primary care, examining how precision medicine can better respond to real-world clinical and community needs. This is a full-day workshop, structured around three themed presentations, followed by a panel discussion.

Workshop Structure and Themes

The workshop will feature three themed sessions, each aligned to a core theme. Each session will include three short presentations, followed by a panel discussion bringing together speakers and stakeholders:

  • Primary Care: Diverse Needs, and Complex Challenges

Understanding the dynamics and structure of primary care and the needs of patients and their families

  • Translation of Genomics into Primary Care

Existing efforts to implement genomics in primary care, policy, and practice and impact on outcomes

  • Precision Medicine: Genomics and Beyond

From genomics to multi-omics: making precision medicine practical and purposeful in primary care

  • Panel session: A Road Map for Primary Care

Outlining a realistic roadmap for integrating genomics, data, and precision medicine into primary care over the next decade

Keynote: Precision medicine in clinical care: requirements and challenges

By Tiffany Boughtwood
Australian Health Genomics Commissioner, Genomics Australia

Tiffany Boughtwood BSc (Hons) MBA has over 30 years’ experience in molecular biology and research management, including: leading academic and diagnostic laboratories, collaborating internationally in genetic and genomic research, and consulting in genomic implementation and management. Tiffany was formerly the Managing Director of Australian Genomics, a national collaborative supporting genomic research and its translation into clinical practice.
