Description

This education session aims to enhance understanding and challenge concepts of mental illness and suicidality. This session will address the understandable fear and empower those who might otherwise be fearful of suicide, to intervene, support and work with those who are suicidal.

Guest Speakers:

  • Antonia Murphy, Psychotherapist and Author of Out of this world: Suicide Examined.
  • Dr Lyndall White, Consultant Psychiatrist, Belmont Private Hospital.
  • Dr Thomas Moore, Consultant Psychiatrist, Belmont Private Hospital.
  • Dr Susy Mathew, Geriatric Psychiatrist, Belmont Private Hospital
  • Dr Murray Walters, Consultant Psychiatrist, Belmont Private Hospital. (Chair)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Improved confidence in working with and understanding individuals who are suicidal.
  • Explain suicide and the complexities of this subject.
  • Identify the suicide risks in Peri Natal Mental Health, Elderly and PTSD patients.
  • Implement a risk and assessment protocol/tool and care pathways into practice for patients who are suicidal or have suicidal thoughts.

This education session is delivered in patnership with Belmont Private Hospital
