Evolve Therapeutic Services is offering all interested parties the opportunity to participate in this introductory training on working with children who have experienced trauma.

Trauma Informed Care and Practice is, “a strengths-based framework grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and that creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment." (Blue Knot Foundation 2016)

Evolve is offering a 2 day introductory workshop on understanding relational (complex) trauma and its application to working with children and young people. Participants will develop an understanding of the range of developmental impacts of trauma, and take home some practical strategies on how best to support children heal from these experiences, over time, in a range of contexts.


Topics covered include:

  • Optimal Child Development : What is it and How does it happen?
  • The Development of the Brain and Learning
  • The Development of Relationships and Social Skills
  • The Impact of Trauma on the developing child
  • Supporting Children through Grief and Loss
  • Strategies for Creating a Feeling of Safety in Children
  • What approach to take when children ‘act out’


Please bring:

  • Your own note taking resources.
  • A warm jacket or coat.
  • Your own lunch or money to purchase lunch - this training is not catered.
