Australian Red Cross are excited to be providing another series of “Working Dog Training School”.

Australian Dog Handling Champion, Gary White leads this full-day training workshop for upto 14 participants and their dogs to demonstrate foundational skill development. Spectating from the sidelines will be upwards of 30 to 40 spectators watching the trials and tribulations that will unfold.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided. Everyone is welcome to come and watch (catering provided too, please book in for catering purposes).

Due to the huge demand, we see at each and every one of our Working Dog Schools, we always have a waitlist of people from your community that have registered on the chance there might be a cancellation.

We ask that you are considerate of others. If you have attended any of our previous Working Dog Schools as a participant, we respectfully request that you register as a spectator for any further sessions to help "spread the love" as far as we can.

The awards just keep on coming for Gary - back in July at the 2023 State Utility Championship Trial in Inglewood, QLD, Gary took out places 1th, 2nd and 3rd in the 2023 State Utility Championship and then 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places in the Open Utility Trial.

Frequently asked questions

As a SPECTATOR, what do I need to bring?

We always suggest you bring a hat, your own chair and your own refillable water bottle. Given the time of year, perhaps a pair of gum boots might be advisable!

As a PARTICIPANT (with a working dog), what do I need to bring?

In addition to the items listed above, you might find it beneficial to have a short and long lead, and if you'd like to familiarise your dog with your own rake (see pics above) you're welcome to bring your own leaf rake - we use these https://www.bunnings.com.au/44cm-plastic-leaf-rake_p3350684

Do you have any tips you can give me about working dog school etiquette?

The one expectation is to be considerate of others - being considerate of the kind person that offered their property on the day by tidying up after your dog! Unsettled dogs can be disruptive to others, if this is your dog, be considerate by excusing yourself to pacify/relocate to minimise impact.
