Event description
Enjoy a Welcome to Country ceremony by Elders of the Dja Dja Wurrung people and a screening of Ringtone for National Reconciliations Week!

About this Event

To mark National Reconciliation Week, Bendigo Library is honoured to be welcomed back to Country by Elders of the Dja Dja Wurrung people. A Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony will be followed by a screening of Ringtone our contribution to the Central Victorian Indigenous Film Festival.

Ringtone

In a country where everyone has a mobile phone, a personalised ringtone can say a lot about you. Ringtone is a short documentary about the ringtones of some of the Yolgnu people of the Gapuwiyak community in Arnhem Land. From ancestral clan songs, animal calls and birdsongs, to hip-hop artists and gospel tunes, a Yolgnu ringtone always comes with a great story.
