WOMEN WHO CHOSE TO CHALLENGE
Take a walk along Fraser Avenue to acknowledge the women who brought about changes for the equity and welfare of women and children in WA.
This walk acknowledges the WA women named on the 1929 Centenary plaques along Fraser Avenue . These plaques of women include the first Australian woman politician, a second WA woman politician, the CWA, charities, welfare and education. Hear the endeavours and achievements of leading and lesser known Western Australian women, advocating and working for equality of women and children starting in the early 20th Century. They worked tirelessly to bring forward many of the changes that are now in our society today. Learn about Aboriginal women, authors, medical practitioners and botanical artists. At the State War Memorial Precinct, women in areas of conflict are highlighted.
