Event description
The Adelaide Central Market is celebrating women in food this International Women’s Day.

About this Event

The Adelaide Central Market is celebrating some of South Australia's most inspirational women in food this International Women’s Day.

Breakfast will be made with love by the ladies of Lucias and emceed by writer and co-author of our book Adelaide Central Market, Stories, People & Recipes, Katie Spain. The event will include robust discussion with our panellists Kris Lloyd, Barbara Knoll and Corrina Wright about their challenges, achievements and the moments that keep them inspired.

Meet our panel....

Synonymous with artisan cheese making and business innovation in South Australia, the name Kris Lloyd hardly requires an introduction. Chief Executive and Head Cheese Maker of Woodside Cheese Wrights and Kris Lloyd Artisan, Kris has won a multitude of industry awards, including gold medals at the World Cheese Awards. The driving force behind major food festivals in South Australia including Cheese Fest and Ferment the Festival, Kris has been at the forefront of cheese innovation with her range of seasonal cheeses and incorporating native ingredients.

Barbara Knoll credits her business success to family, teamwork and passion. Purchasing Barossa Fine Foods, a smallgoods shop at the Adelaide Central Market with husband Franz in 1991, they have together grown the business into the success story it is today with 8 retail outlets, national distribution network, a smallgoods factory and too many industry awards to count. Barbara has faced many challenges including raising four sons (and now 9 grandchildren) in a demanding industry but remains passionate about local produce and the continuation of the Barossa legacy.

CEO and winemaker at Oliver's Taringa, Corrina Wright was named winemaker of the year last year by the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology at the 2019 Awards for Excellence. Having dedicated herself to the development of innovative varieties and wine styles - she was an early adopter of Fiano, Vermentino and Sagrantino in South Australia. She has also been prominent in cultural change in the Australian wine industry and holds an advisory board position on the Australian Women in Wine Awards (AWIWA). Her contribution to the creation of the sold-out ‘Hear Me Roar’ Shiraz was significant – it was the world’s first wine produced by women with 100 percent of profits from sales going to help women to succeed in the Australian wine industry.
