Join members of the Community Campaign Taskforce from the Benalla place-based suicide prevention trial in attending the Winter Solstice event, either in Albury via bus or live stream in Benalla.
The Winter Solstice was started in 2013 by the founders of Survivors of Suicide and Friends, Annette and Stuart Baker. Survivors of Suicide and Friends is an Albury-based organisation whose aim is to bring the subject of suicide and mental illness into the public forum to be addressed without shame or stigma. The Winter Solstice is an opportunity for communities to gather on the longest (and often coldest) night of the year to be entertained, enlightened and supported.
Annette and Stewart invited the Benalla community to take part in the event at the February Connect Benalla Community Meeting.
As a result of this a bus to the event in Albury will depart from the Benalla Botanical Gardens at 3.30pm. A live-stream of the Winter Solstice is taking place at a community gathering at Melodrama's Performing Arts Studio from 5.00pm in Benalla.
