Description

“It’s like being inside a giant cello” The New York Times

INTERNATIONAL INSTALLATION ARTIST, MUSICIAN AND VISIONARY, WILLIAM CLOSE, BRINGS HIS FAMED EARTH HARP TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE FIRST TIME TO IGNITE HORIZON.

For one night only, the Los Angeles based artist will deliver two concert spectacles collaborating with local Sunshine Coast musicians and performers.

Close creates musical installations that use the architecture as part of the instrument.

During the concert, the body of The Earth Harp will rest on the stage and 24 harp strings will travel across the length of Kings Beach Amphitheatre, over the audience, transforming the venue in to a colossal musical instrument.

The audience will be pulled in to the performance and will experience the music from the inside.

The Earth Harp has been installed in some of the most iconic destinations in the world including The Colosseum in Rome, the temples of Vietnam, Grand Theatre of Shanghai, and major US festivals such as Coachella and Burning Man. A permanent Earth Harp installation is also currently a part of Cirque du Soleil's show "Ka” in Las Vegas.

This Australian premiere and opening night spectacle should not be missed.

TWO PERFORMANCES ONLY IN AUSTRALIA!

6.00-7.00pm and 8.00-9.00pm

Bring a blanket to sit on, food and drink available for purchase. No glass or alcohol to be brought in to the amphitheatre.

Please note this is a FREE event - no entry ticket required. By registering your interest, you will receive event updates including important information.
