Event description

Description

Wildside GeoQuest Special Edition is the ultimate test of your physical and mental limits. There is no question, the race is tough and it is real adventure. Your body will be totally exhausted, your brain will be begging you to stop and you’ll have had little or no sleep for 48 hours. Then if you are one of the lucky teams, you will crawl across the finish line. This is certainly not your average weekend!

Why do people do it then? Because for the competitors who attain the ultimate prize of crossing the finish line, will come to them an elation and sense of achievement like nothing else. They will have taken their body and mind past anywhere it has been before. They will have shared incomparable experiences with their team mates and learnt about themselves. Ultimately they will have found that their limits are just an illusion…

The Wildside GeoQuest Special edition race is a unique collaboration for 2018 that brings together Richard Old from Fully Rad Adventure and Chris Dixon from Wild & Co to deliver Australias biggest and best Adventure Race.

And one of the most arduous and memorable adventure racing experiences of your life. This race does not include kayaks, teams can supply their own, hire one from a range of suppliers, or we can supply a CTR double kayak for $100 per boat. Teams racing for A1 points must use the CTR kayaks for hire and compete un-supported.

The Half Course

This is the great race for the teams not ready to race the Full but wanting an overnight adventure racing experience. This is a 24hr course and teams can expect to cover up to 25kms of kayaking, 30kms of trekking and 80kms of mountain biking depending on the terrain and route choice. It will still be tough. Entry includes:

  • 2 sets of race maps
  • a high quality adventure racing course in a great location
  • a cool race t-shirt
  • first response teams for emergency first aid
  • great web coverage with live tracking
  • a post-race BBQ

  • a cool race t-shirt
  • first response teams for emergency first aid
  • great web coverage with live tracking
  • a post race BBQ

And up to 12hr of arduous and memorable adventure racing. This race includes kayaks.

Who – Teams of 2 or 4 enter in one of three categories, Premier (i.e. Mixed), All-Female, or All-Male. You must finish the race with the number of team members you start with. Teams have the option of bringinig additional people as support crew (this person is not racing).

What – A non-stop long weekend of adventure, including disciplines of trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking. You and your teammates stay together for the whole race – it isn’t a relay! There are three courses, the Full Course and the Half Course, as well as The Rush – a 12hr course. The Full Course is the ultimate test for a team while the Half is approx half the distance but still allows teams plenty of time to reach the finish line. The Half and The Rush are ideal for those who want to give adventure racing a try, but not commit to the full course.

Where – GeoQuest is held in a new location each year. Normally it is held somewhere on the NSW North Coast with the general location announced at the start of February. The course itself will only be revealed to teams the day before the start of the race.
