Our wonderful venue: North Star Holiday Resort, Hastings Point

A little north of the famous Byron Bay (but quieter) and easily reached by bus (just over an hour's ride) or car from the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangaatta, our conference site is close to ocean, bushland and township, and as a bonus boasts an ecellent example of an interpretive wildlife centre.

We encourage all our delegates to stay at the conference venue (there is other accommodsation within easy walking distance if you miss out).

Step out of your room if you rise early, cross the road and head through the bushland to dip your toes in the Pacific Ocean, stroll along the long sandy beach lined with native vegetation instead of tourism highrise, do some birdwatching or just sit on the sand and enjoy the sound of the waves before retuning for breakfast.

Explore the excellent on-site marine discovery centre, itself capable of sparking many ideas for other displays you may be planning.

Join other delegates for breakfast and at the end of the day to get to kow each other even better and continue discussing ideas, techniques and possibilities for future research or interpretation plans.

Field excursions

There will be a short mid-conference field trip (included in registration), most likely on Wednesday 6 November

Other field tips and sppecial tours will be available 2-4 and 8-10 November. Visit the WTA website for details
