Event description

Description

When people are diagnosed with a mental illness they often feel like it is a life sentence yet many will recover and live well in the community. What many of us don’t realise is that those who have been diagnosed hold the key to lessons we can all learn about our own mental health.

With 50% of the Australian population being diagnosed with a mental illness in their lifetime what can we learn from those who are experiencing it?

With a keynote on loss and grief from Rosemary Wanganeen and led by Jessica Rowe – who has her own lived experience – this Open State panel will share with us the valuable life lessons that come with mental illness. From the family of a Port Adelaide Football Club player to a working mum to the person next door, this panel will share their experiences and the positive impact their diagnosis has made on their lives.
