City of Perth LibraryPerth, WA
Saturday, Feb 21 from 1:15 pm to 3:45 pm AWST
Overview

Held at City of Perth Library Auditorium (not the State Library!), learn what it really takes to get drama projects off the ground.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Designed for emerging and early to mid-career producers, this practical session offers an honest look at what it really takes to get drama projects off the ground from producer Kate Separovich.

Drawing on her experience across a wide range of productions — including Evie, Good Fortune, Good Night, Dirt Music, the West Coast Visions feature Proclivitas, as well as numerous projects that never made it to screen — Kate will share valuable insights gained from both successes and setbacks.

The workshop is structured into four key stages of the production process: Development, Financing, Production and Post-Production. Each section will break down the realities, challenges and decision-making required at that stage, followed by a dedicated Q&A to allow participants to dig deeper and ask practical questions relevant to their own projects.

To support the discussion, participants will receive links to pre-viewing footage ahead of the session, ensuring a shared reference point for learning and analysis.

Grounded, transparent and highly informative, this ScreenCraft workshop is ideal for producers looking to strengthen their understanding of drama production and build confidence navigating every stage of the filmmaking journey.
