Tour 1: Public art highlights tour
Wednesday 1 February & Thursday 23 February 2023
Discover the stories behind some of the University’s best-known and loved public art as well as some hidden gems on a walking tour of the Lower Campus with the Senior Curator of the University’s Art Collection, Elena Taylor. The tour includes the first sculpture commissioned for the University by Tom Bass, the recently refurbished Douglas Annand mosaics in the Dalton building and Bronwyn Oliver’s iconic Globe sculpture.
- Duration 30 minutes
- Meet at entrance to Old Main Building - south side of building (map ref K14)
- Registration capped at 20 people
- Bring a hat and sunscreen
Tour 2: Indigenous art commissions tour
Thursday 9 February & Thursday 2 March 2023
View the recent Indigenous art commissions for the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab with the University’s Senior Curator of Art, Elena Taylor. These include Guruwaal an integrated artwork for the revitalised Alumni Park, Marilyn Russell’s shellwork installation La Perouse: my heart, my soul in saltwater Country and the 16-meter painted mural In her hands by UNSW Indigenous alumni Carmen Glynn-Braun, Dennis Golding and Kirra Weingarth.
