About this event

At no charge for fire affected families in the Triangle region who live on their own land in temporary accommodation as a result of the Badja Fire. Suitable for a group of two or three families. Please self-organise your group and book together.

***The Crossing run our workshops and community events in the safest and most welcoming environment possible. All our staff will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and in line with NSW government regulations we will also require all participants to be fully vaccinated by the date of this workshop.***

BYO sleeping bags for the young people (we have 8 spares if needed). Rooms: one double bed room and three twin rooms with all linen and bedding provided. Three train carriage bunkrooms, each with four double bunks for the young people (sleeping bags or doonas needed, woollen blankets and linen available on request).

A welcome meal on Friday night is provided by Crossing volunteer staff with one or two of our qualified staff (depending on numbers) available to lead a river canoe from 10 to 12am on Saturday morning for whoever wishes to participate. There will also be time on Saturday afternoon to explore the local bushland and river, or to solve our log balance puzzle track. Plenty of time to just relax. There is an extensive permaculture library, food gardens, table tennis, musical instruments, board games. BYO fishing rod or mountain bike and helmet if you wish.

Ingredients to make your own breakfasts and lunches will be on hand for your stay. BYO dinner for Saturday night or visit Bermagui for a night out.

As we are running a Landcare Australia supported Fire-retardant planting workshop, we need guests to leave the site by 10am. Of course you are also welcome to attend this event to develop your knowledge of retardant and go home with 10 fire-retardant native tubestock.

Please notify your local bushfire relief/recovery centre at Cobargo or Quaama that you are taking up this Bushfire Recovery Family Weekend opportunity. Once we have spoken with the centre we will provide final confirmation for your booking.

Maximum 20 people. This opportunity has been made possible due to St Vinnies support for the Crossing to assist our Triangle community with bushfire recovery.
