Wednesday sessions are back with a selection of Aussie hip hop!Drapht, a hip hop artist from Perth, has been making music since 2003! With a platinum record, multi platinum and gold singles and two ARIA’s already under his belt, it’s no great secret that Drapht is a songwriting prodigy. Whether you focus on his lyrics, his melodic hooks (or focus on nothing at all and just enjoy yourself) as a songwriter Drapht can pretty much do everything. Each of his six subsequent albums – Pale Rider (2003), Who Am I (2005), Brothers Grimm (2008) and Life Of Riley (2010) Seven Mirrors (2016) Arabella Street (2018) – brought increasing levels of complexity and refinement, ascending Drapht to the absolute upper echelon of Australia’s stacked card of hip-hop heavyweights. Already, he is one of the greats. (via celebrateWA.com)Come on down to watch his set, opened by Potent24 and DBLU!Starting out young, Potent24 cut his teeth performing at local open mic nights and participating in rap battles, before eventually touring Victoria & South Australia in a band as a teenager. It was here where he first learnt to entertain a crowd, and he’s kept those skills ever since. Potent24 is a student of rap, both locally and overseas. His new release, Be My Peace, featuring songstress Miss Understood, takes a different direction to his usual nihilistic, abrasive raps, instead favouring an uplifting vibe & melodic vocals. (via Triple J Unearthed)D.B.L.U. is an upcoming hip hop artist from rural Ballarat, he started his music journey in 2018, and with several live performances to his name has started releasing his long-awaited solo work.
