Overview

This intensive workshop provides the background knowledge and skills to teach Protective Behaviours to primary school aged children.

Underpinned by trauma theory this training will provide participants with the background knowledge and skills to teach Protective Behaviours to children aged up to 12 years.

Workshop content:

• Overview of child abuse in Australia.

* The impact of trauma from a child abuse survivor's perspective.

• The dynamics of child sexual abuse and grooming behaviours.

• Protective Behaviours learning areas (including teaching activities).

• Includes Learner Guide.

WA Child Safety Services is a selected provider of Protective Behaviours professional learning for the Department of Education.

Certificate of Attendance for CPD provided upon request.

About the Facilitators:

Justine O’Malley MSW, GradCertCPP, BA(Ed), DipCouns

Justine is a qualified Teacher, Accredited Social Worker and Counsellor with over 30 years’ experience working in the education and child protection sectors. Justine is the author of Jasmine’s Butterflies and Michael’s Bubbles, two popular Protective Behaviours storybooks and has been the editor of a number of Protective Behaviours resources, including primary school lesson plans for the Department of Education. Justine is a lecturer and sought-after presenter both locally and across Australia.
