WA Youth Homelessness Action Plan - Design Team Action Labs

First of all, The Alliance To End Homelessness and YACWA would like to thank you for the interest and support that you’ve shown already in our collective mission to end youth homelessness in 10 years.

You have been contacted because of the critical role you and your organisation play, and the insight that you can bring to this issue.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference for young people right now and the future. Let's get excited about being the drivers to prevent and end youth homelessness in WA! Let's be a role model to the rest of Australia and the world, leading the way to real tangible change!

Your Involvement

Your role in this project is as part of the ‘Co-design Team’. We're excited to inform you that we've got Katie Stubley from the Centre for Social Impact and Jethro Sercombe along with the Homelessness Youth Advisory Council facilitating each session. The best results for this are with a consistent team to follow the process from start to finish, but given the notice, we know this might not be possible. If you need to send a delegate to one of the sessions instead of yourself, please let us know.

The project involves 3 half day workshops combined with some work between the sessions. The guide for this work is included in the Codesign Brief attached and invites will follow this email.

Homelessness Youth Advisory Council (HYAC)

We are excited to announce the commencement of HYAC! HYAC is a dedicated group of 10 young people, with lived experience of homelessness. Young people had to apply for the role and attend interviews. We started by looking for 5 young people, but the application was just too amazing that we have officially hired 10 young people. The HYAC is going to lead the way, to bring change to the systems that impact on young people and critically looking at how we can improve these systems!

Overview of the Action Labs:

1. ACTION LAB ONE: 3RD OF APRIL 9 AM TILL 2 PM

This session is all about getting on the same page - listening and understanding. Our goal will be to develop a rough sketch of what we want to achieve and agree on a plan for information gathering and connecting with young people’s experiences.

2. ACTION LAB TWO: 8TH OF MAY 9 AM TILL 2 PM

This session is all about collating the insights gathered from the first session and subsequent research, consolidating our priorities and developing a plan to test our thinking with others.

3. ACTION LAB THREE: 29TH OF MAY 9 AM TILL 2 PM

This session will allow us to test our final ideas and develop the final components of the WA Youth Homelessness Action Plan, along with establishing any next steps.

Catering included – lunch – dietary requirements need to be provided prior by the 27th March 2019.
