The South West Victoria Region Visiting Teacher Service would like to offer all staff working in primary and secondary schools in the Central Highlands an opportunity to attend a series of professional learning, 'An Introduction to ASD.'

  1. Thursday 8th February 4pm - 5:30pm

  2. Thursday 15th February 4pm - 5:30pm

  3. Thursday 22nd February4pm - 5:30pm

Each session will have a specific focus:

  • What is Autism?

  • Practical Strategies for Schools

  • Positive Behaviour Support

These sessions will be delivered by the ASD Visiting Teacher and the Visiting Teacher Service ASD Team.

These sessions are suitable for anyone with an interest in ASD, teachers, educational support staff, school leadership, wellbeing co-ordinators, PSD co-ordinators, SSSOs and other school staff who work directly with students with ASD.

Although not a requirement, it is suggested attendees attend all three sessions as concepts will be referred to throughout all the sessions.

'As part of the government Special Needs Plan, teachers are now required to build their capacity to teach learners with disability. This will be part of the 20 hours of PD you are required to undertake to meet annual renewal requirements.Teachers must be able to identify the new learning they have gained from their PD and have evidence of attendance or engagement.'

Hours participated will contribute to the total PD hours and a Certificate of Participation provided.
