About this Event

The Governor of Victoria, the Hon. Linda Dessau AC, and Mr Anthony Howard AM QC invite members of the public to attend a free public lecture at Government House, Melbourne on Wednesday 11 September 2019. (Entrance is via Government House Drive, off St. Kilda Road, Melbourne).

Some of Victoria’s leading environment and science experts will speak on the innovative ideas and solutions currently being developed to adapt to the challenges of Victoria’s climate. Associate Professor Anthony Boxshall, Principal of Science into Action, will moderate a panel discussion with:

  • Professor Richard Eckard, Director of the Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre, The University of Melbourne
  • Professor Ros Gleadow, Professor of Plant Sciences, Monash University.
  • Professor Nigel Tapper, Professor of Environmental Science, Monash University and the Water Sensitive Cities Cooperative Research Centre.
  • Dr Pandora Hope, Principal Research Scientist Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

Attendance is free; however, registration is essential as seating is limited. Dress is smart casual or business attire. Attendees are asked to bring a form of photo identification and will be required to undergo security screening involving wanding and bag checks on arrival at Government House. Please note there is no parking on site for this event. Gates open at 5.00 pm. Please be seated by 5.45 pm. Refreshments will be served following official proceedings.
