Victorian Archives Centre Tour with the Hotham History Project
The Hotham History Project are pleased to host a tour of the Victorian Archives Centre for our members on 18th March . Bookings essential.
The Hotham History Project invites members on a tour of the Public Records Office
of Victoria (PROV)'s Victorian Archives Centre on 18 March 2026.
HHP members will be treated to an exclusive tour of the repository, venturing into a
climate-controlled 20 degrees with 50% humidity, optimum conditions for document
and item storage.
PROV's Victorian Archives Centre has been located at North Melbourne since 2000.
It holds over 100km of hard copy records, as well as an extensive digital collection.
It houses state and local government records as well as other subjects including the
1956 Olympics and public transport.
Please note for the tour:
* Tours of the Victorian Archives Centre last up to one hour and a minimum level of
fitness is required to walk and stand for the full hour.
* There are no toilet facilities available once the tour is underway.
* The secure nature of the venue means that the tour may need to end, and all
participants return to public spaces, if a tour member is unable to continue on the tour
for any reason.
* The VAC doesn't permit bags, food, or drink in spaces where records are stored and
handled. Such items need to be stored in free lockers onite while the tour is in
progress.
* If there are special access requirements please advise HHP in advance to check that
that can be accommodated.
* All tour members will need to arrive by 9.50am for a prompt 10am start.
